A female runner broke the record on the 50th anniversary of this weekend's event.

Keira Damato (USA) set a new American marathon record on Sunday at 2:19:12. This is 24 seconds (2:19:36) above the original 2006 record.

Former record holder Dina Castor shouted at Damarth on Twitter after hearing the news.

Viotti Chapgneno (Kenya) finished the half marathon at 1:05:03. According to World Athletics, Chepenno holds the record for the rockiest half marathons in North America.

Sarah Hall (USA) finished second in the half marathon, dropping her last American half-marathon record by 10 seconds at 1:07:15.

According to LetsRun.com, the previous record was also set in 2018 in Houston by Molly Huddle. Huddle yelled at Hall on Twitter, "Every year redefining the arc of the professional sports profession."

Hall posted a tweet of her own victory, noting that it was the same course that her husband had broken the record 15 years earlier.

In the men's race, James Engandu (Kenya) 2:11:03 took first place in the full marathon. Milka Trosa (Ethiopia) 1:00:24 Cross the finish line in the half marathon.
