Like many announcers, his rodeo career began in the field as a competitor. Owen, who has been a member of PRCA since 1994, was elected as a PRCA announcer in 2005, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2016, with 10 more nominations in this category. Wayne was named one of the Wrangler National Finals announcers in 2005, 2013-2019 and 2021 after making his NFSR debut in 2000 with the legendary Krem Maxpaden. He announced three Dodge National Circuit Final Rodeos in Pocatello, Idaho and five Prodio Shootouts at Pace Picante. Owen has sung in the Canadian finals rodeo for the past eight years and has also sung five times in the Indian national finals. His resume also includes finals at Mountain State, Turquoise, Columbia River and Wilderness Circuits. He also announced honorary rodeos such as Calgary Stamp, Renault Rodeo, Pendleton Roundup, California Rodeo Salinas, Rodeo Austin, Red Bluff Roundup, Black Hills Stockshow Rodeo, and Clovis Rodeo.


He was born in Prescott, Arizona, but grew up in Wyoming, Colorado and Ranchland. He believes that this uplifting gave him the importance of preserving Western heritage. Although not announcing Rhodes, Wayne serves as a commercial voice genius. He and his wife Melania have two daughters, Taylor and Sheridan, and a son, S. They have traveled to the United States and Canada, but have their homes in Lampad, Texas.
